My Ride is being outfitted with a Turbonetics Turbo Kit (2007 Turbo Mustang GT)
As most of you have read, Turbonetics (www.turboneticsinc.com) has given me the lifetime opportunity of having my car be a test car. They are using my 2007 Mustang GT to develop the 2007 Mustang GT turbo kit. It seems that Ford has changed the waterline configurations and because of the changes that Ford has made, required Turbonetics to update the existing 2005-2006 Mustang GT Turbokit. Through James Lawrence at PowerTV (www.powertv.com) he hooked me up with Tyler Tanaka who is the marketing guru at Turbonetics. Tyler asked if I would be interested in allowing them to use my car for a few weeks to develop this kit, in return they would give me a finished product, tuned. What a deal!!! I quickly agreed, and told him I would be there Friday leaving Colorado Springs, on Thursday night. Ryan (www.dobycross.com) and I headed to Las Vegas as it is about half way to Simi Valley, CA from here. We got to I-70 which is about a 1 1/2 hr drive from Colorado Springs just to find out that Snow Chains were required 40 miles away. After a few minutes of debate we decided to cut our losses and backtrack through Colorado Springs, through New Mexico to Las Vegas, NV. After about 19hrs of driving we pulled into La Vegas, NV. Tired from the driving and knowing we had another 4-5hrs of driving we made it a quick night. We checked out a few things and walked the strip then, we drove out of town to stop a little closer to Simi Valley.
The next morning we had a excellent (NOT) breakfast at good ole Wiskey Petes and headed out. We made it to Turbonetics about 11am and was greeted by Tyler. Tyley gave us a tour of the facilities, we got to see the production line, the warehouse, the fab shop, the CNC Machines, heck Tyler showed us all of it. We even got a lesson on how they balance the turbos. We got the check out the new line of GTK Turbos and see some of their other products. Just walking around the shop you understand why they are the #1 performance turbo manufacturer. Tyler showed me the kit on the 4.6 Mustang GT motor and one on a assembled car. This thing is top notch! They have done a great job on researching and developing this kit. Tyler took us to lunch in the DSO Eyewear H3 that is powered by a H3 Turbonetics turbo Kit. For this thing having 26inch wheels and lots of excessive weight from the stereo it got up and went pretty good. Saturday morning we got up and headed back to the shop to drop off the mustang and take our hell ride to the airport. I dropped off the keys with Tyler at the shop and mentioned that I was very appreciative of what they were doing for me. We were in a van that had specially unbalanced wheels on each corner so it would give you the greatest vibration at any given speed. This thing was going 'Mach Jesus' through traffic. We did make it to the air port and made it from the nice California weather back to 24 degree temps here in Colorado Springs. All in all it was a good trip and it was great meeting the guys at Turbonetics and get to see where these turbos are made. The guys there take pride in their work and pay very close attention to the details. I will be very proud to be sporting a turbonetics turbo! Thanks Tyler, Johnny, and all the guys and gals at Turbonetics for hooking me up!! Ps... If you live in Colorado, I found out by two very cool State Troopers that you need a front license plate, you need to sign your registration, and you should not put the smoked license plate cover on your rear license plate. I was pulled over twice in about a 10 minute span for not having a front license plate. Both these troopers were very cool and understanding. Last edited by TurboMike : 04-07-2007 at 08:53 PM. |

hehe... i thought of that... and it made me change my mind to ship it.. .it is lots cheaper to have it shipped... and paying for this rental car down here is killing me... 250$ a week... sux!!! and it is a gas hog!
I spoke to Tyler from Turbonetics and he said the car is coming along, they ended up moving the MAF sensor so it put them behind a little... cant wait to get it!!! |
