View Full Version : Charging and cooling systems
I noticed since I installed my HP kit my car has been running a lot hotter (as per stock gauge) than its ever run. Over the winter I was thinking of upgrading to a 2 row aluminum rad. I was looking at the Be Cool and find 'em pretty expensive, does anyone have one of these? or other brands? Is it worth the $$
Also with the electric cooling fan my volt gauge (stock) reads real low and I know when running EFI it can cause all types of issues. Anyone running a larger alternator?(higher amp) What brand? Results?

Yes sir, I have both a Griffin Rad and a Summit brand alum rad. I haev to say the Summit brand is MUCH better than the Griffin, and cheaper to boot!! My Griffin in the TT car has started leaking fro mteh expoxies fins coming loose. the Summit has fully welded fins/tanks.
I am using Altima fans on the TT car, and a PermaCool race fan on the Hot Rod (nitrous car). The twin Nissans draw a LOT more amps, but sure keep teh car cool!!
I could recommend an upgrade to a 3G alt. That should take care of your crarging problems.

yeah i did the 3G upgrade.. pretty simple and i used the March Alternator bracket... much mo betta than stock alt bracket...and it moves the alt away from the turbo header on the passenger side...

You can never go wrong with a new rad. I have a Fluidyne and since the install she hasn't seen over 190. Steeda, Be Cool, Ford, Fluidyne all worth it. Steeda is the best for the buck I've seen, hands down. Have you looked into a electric fan set up, electric h2o pump? This will be the biggest difference you will notice. My .02. Have a good one
